I agree with you Lee... those were certainly good films. I've read the book on We Were Soldiers myself and also think the ending was a bit too much like Mel Gibson's "The Patriot"( as for the charge...
" 1911s suck".... Probably an accurate statement..... IF SPOKEN BY THE NEXT OF KIN OF ANYONE UNLUCKY ENOUGH TO BE FACING THE WRONG END OF ONE.
Great shot of a great gun.
Anyone know of or think there was a better war film (of actual history) showing the effective use of the .45 than the 2001 WWl Film of "The Lost Battalion" staring Ricky Schroeder??
I for one...
I agree, it is a lot of work and only fun if you get a kick out of the process of reloading like I do. However, I'm always looking for better ways of doing it though and I appreciate your input.
A few years ago I used 30.06 brass which I trimmed down to the 7.5 case length, and re-necked the brass for the French Round using a lot of case lube. The rounds seemed to work well in my 49/56...
I'd love to say I really hit something with mine, but I'd be lying... I hit short of an old resting hulk of something with my one and only shot.
I've got a college buddy and two grade school buddies whose names are engraved on a Wall in Washington D.C. The thought of dishonoring myself by claiming to be more than I was in the service of our...
I took my basic armor officer training at Ft Knox in the early seventies just as Nixon had been
"Vietnamizing " the war, and there seemed to be as many South Vietnamese soldiers in training as...
Racking the slide of a 1911 is like sitting at a red light goosing the engine of a Corvette... all that power is mere seconds away!
wonder if with all those rounds fired (students)...... they actually hit anything?
I have an unissued 1916 Mills myself that I think I purchsed from Gun Parts Corp at least twenty years ago for about $5 to $10.... couldn't have been much more, because I'm a cheapskate. LOL
I wonder after three or four rounds fired, what the minute of ___? would be for a British Jungle Carbine (Mark V) ?
better not pick that one.
geez.... what happened here? did they run a magnet thru a Chicago gradeschool?
nah, Joem it would only be with one of my small frame automatics, which would be the likely carry gun anyway.
I agree Ken what a thread! I didn't realize how strong a response it would elicit. I'm glad however I posted it because it gave others a chance to talk about the slide pin moving out on them...
LOL Refering to your 1911 as your new "baby" would not go well in my buddy's house... His wife is constantly complaining about him spending more time cleaning his guns than playing with his three...
A "CLUNKER" 1911 is like a "clunker" chevy corvette.... or a "clunker" P51 mustang.... a classic is a classic, clunker or not.
Thanks Johnny P
I purchase an old "U.S" 1911 hoster at a military collectors flea market about fifeteen years ago for my Argentine Colt and have a question about it that maybe someone can shed some light on. ...
you got it Jimmy.... Hit'em where it really hurts!
You got it Jimmy, hit'em where it hurts... not only him but his family as well.

Probably the funniest and last thing the deer he's aiming at gets a chance to see.
