Thanks! Pretty sure that's where I'll end up, this is more like an educational opportunity. Mike
I have acquired a decent Lyman 48S 03A3 sight - but some issues as shown below - and both (I assume) that the sight be taken apart to fix. While the base and the slide do not have matching ID marks...
Here are some better pics of the repaired scabbard as I am back at my desktop PC and not trying to do this on the phone!

Not really. My MilSurp buddy said $100-$150 all day long tops for good condition. I don't believe him as my online scouring showed $200/$250-$300 or more for good complete ones appearing as sold. ...

Thanks All - at this point I am assuming the pistol was rebuilt by SA after Korea, with possibly one more trip through rehab, and TZ slide added at a more local level.
CMP pistol; 1944 Remington. What years would the SA mark have been placed? 3rd pic down

Thanks - here are a few more pics. Also - The Butt-Pad is marked "Decelerator" (which is Pachmayr I think), and through it I can feel the two large holes a normal stock would have. It is also good...
Thanks - my initial inclination was this was likely a modified original stock, but not my area of expertise, and - order was restored earlier - "U" is now "UP"!
Recent find - 1930 Sporter SA 1351759. Rifle looks fine for 90 years on the job! Trying to figure out the stock, has two"R" stamps as shown below. Any thoughts? Lotsa pics here

Well - good questions. As it is - it is worth "not too much". Repaired to original - maybe $200-$250. I have $100 into it, and figure about $100 more to "restore it". The guy that will do the...
This is the short version of an interesting and longish story. I now have a Leather M1 Carbine scabbard to go with the rifles of ?great carbine giveaway? of CMP many years ago!. It has been...
Found - Redfield #21 that should work has arrived!
Thanks!
Thanks everyone. Been going through old catalogs trying to make sense of what was out there back in the day. A huge variety for sure. This knowledge paid off as there was a NOS Redfield #21...
My SA 1181953 rifle is basically in decent shape except the front sight appears to have been used as the bottom of a crutch! I am refurbing it to be able to use the Lyman 48 rear sight, and also to...
Pulled out my reloading notes. First .30-40 Krag notes are 08-FEB-1998, which means I got the rifle here in Kansas as I moved here in 1988. Last reloading note was 02-FEB-2002. Thinking there are...
Sight is just fine! A little Kroil and a very light tap and the cam was free.
I need to dig deep into the reloading supplies - and get some range time - maybe retirement IS an option!

From the back of the gun locker comes my 1902 Krag. Another I am not sure where it came from! I have not looked at this for at least 15 years, and welcome any insight. Things noted -
