I confess I've been out of the game for a long time. I'm wondering if light pipe sights like the Williams fire sights are legal in small bore pistol competition.. Anyone know??:icon_scratch:
Doesn't cutting off the heel of the receiver compromise it's strength??
I think it's legal as long as it doesn't change the profile of the weapon.
What scales are everyone using? Does anyone use a all-in-one powder dispenser scale combo???
How did they integrate the Winchester heel??? Is it welded on??
Well I couldn't afford a real "C" stock and the gun is a shooter not a museum piece so it's "good enough" But yeah it could have been finished out better by Menelli. I would've felt better if it had...
I'm leaving it as is. As far as I can tell the Buttplate is mint unissued and is the same size as the one on my original stock.. Per the 'Smith the trigger shelf was not hogged out enough. He fixed...
Brought it to the 'smith and he squared things away for me. The other thing I noticed is the toe of the stock is a little proud over the butt plate31572
The finished rifle:

I begin the process of assembling the rifle in the Minelli stock and it looks awesome. The problem is the rifle is now a very beautiful club. Every time I opened then closed the bolt to to cock the...
Except if you come across an unmolested original that is pinned similarly: 31517 Granted it's a Smith Corona.. :icon_salut:
And here it is after the two coats of red Mahogany: 31514 Handgard is still darker, but is close enough..
After this coat I hit it with a coat of red mahogany stain and it looked better yet.. going to give it one more coat in 5 hours and see how it stands then compared to the HG..
Confirmed by the gunsmith that the chamber wasn't finished.
Will it impede function other than looking off to an expert?? Getting them in without the proper spanner was a PITA and getting them out after being impacted with Tung oil isn't going to be...
Went with some Minwax Dark Walnut and it's now much improved.. Still a little light after two coats but I can live with it..31512
Can you talk them into a different kind of walnut? A little late for me, but it might help the next guy..
Tried chemically stripping the Tung and then hitting it with some dark walnut stain. I'm hoping it works . I've left the handgaurd alone after a couple coats of tung as it's dark enough..
Haven't set the rifle in the stock yet. I wan to get the color right and get it sealed up with some tung oil.
In this case it was just a new barrel the receiver was fine.
Got the Minelli stock and began the process of Tung oiling and preparing it for use. When I received it it was dry and raw feeling and color wise it was on the light side.. It was nearly the same...
Spoke with the 'smith and he told me the rifle has never been fired.. Barrel was brand new! He finished reamed it. I'll have it back Monday..
Any instructions on how to insert the Stock Re-enforcement pins? Do the pins/bolts bear on the action anywhere? I never have installed any, my background on stocks is more Garand related than...
One determining factor was length of pull. If scants have a longer length of pull then I want a shorter one...
I'm going with the Minelli have it on order and have stock re-enforcement pins in hand..
