If it is a plastic rig over a metal cap, pop the plastic off and apply a suitable application of Channellock pliers to the remaining metal cap.
Back up for me just now using the normal forum address.
It was back up for me a couple minutes ago.
Also getting a message about my IP being banned.
I talked to Jeff the other day after I got the same email.

Update, a fellow on another forum ID'd these as P/N B009-73-10579 for the Remington Model 11 per a 50's vintage ORD SNL.
I may be able to post pics, but other than seeing the yellowed label, they are still wrapped in cheesecloth and cosmoline so there isn't much else to see I'm afraid.
Anyone have a FM/TM or parts list that might help answer my question?
I'm not sure if you do eBay, but there are always Mk2 forends listed. usually many more than Mk1's.

No idea where the pistol went but there...
If memory serves, at least some of the earlier S&W's only had one pin for the extractor star to index on.
Also, the shaft on the extractor star has a groove in it that would prevent it from...
Been 10-12 years, but I loaded a lot of .45ACP, .38 Spl and a bit of .357 Mag and maybe some .45 Colt with Titegroup at one point.
No issues spring to mind at present.
Check your PM's.
Out of curiosity, what makes you think you need a size four? Size threes are hard enough to turn up these days. Are you using SAAMI or UK Milspec headspace gauges?
You might take a look here for...
They sell for a pretty good buck. The last few I saw sell were $200 or more unless the seller did not do their homework and sold them cheap.
I agree it looks like a M1923 sling but it appears to be missing the keeper.
