What kind of tang sight is it? I am building a TD for shooting and was thinking of putting a tang sight on it, so I don't have to shoot the 1879 heirloom much.

Please make sure that the hammer is in the cocked position when removing the lock so it won't chip the stock around the lock plate. Otherwise it will chip the top of the stock above the lock plate...

Dick what does your book say about the serial number if anything as it is a real early number?

If we could get Mr. Hosmer to chime in here he has the serial # records and next to Al is most knowledgeable on these trapdoors
