Johnny, I attached a pic of it above.
Johnny, it's definitely an R. It's on a Facebook 1911 site. Here is the photo:32629
There is a barrel on a Colt 1911 posted on another sight that is marked with a vertical R P barrel (not H P). Does anyone know anything about this marking? I have never seen it mentioned before.
I've read mixing liquid lanolin and 99% isopropyl alcohol works very well. Try this link for more info: http://www.frfrogspad.com/homemade.htm#Sizing
ADI's flake powder plant in Australia is finally back on line, so hopefully we'll start to see some Clays and Clays Universal start to become available here in the states.
For peace of mind, there are now escrow options (like escrow.com) that serve as a middle man to protect both the seller and buyer. It works like this:
1) Buyer and seller agree to use escrow. ...

I don’t think the importing of the 9x18s [CZs, true Makarovs (Russian, East German, Bulgarian), Polish P64 and P83, and Hungarian PA63] have been going on long enough to establish the demand for...
If you liked Unique, then in order I would look for: Unique, Universal, HP-38, Win 231, Accurate #2, WST, TightGroup, Bullseye, 700-X, Clays. This list works your way up from the medium speed...
At least two things strike me as odd as well: The erosion of the C on the RCD where a take down scratch would have been and the SN font, especially the 1.
John,
Great to see you back on line!!!
Just fired mine a couple of weeks ago at 15 yards. Shoots a well as any USGI 1911A1 I've fired, maybe better....
Thanks, Scott. I saw an offiering last week on GB for an Ithaca in the 901k range that had an SP barrel; it also was double-stamped. The SP barrel along with the low SN double-stamp made me shy...
Clawson’s 3rd edition (p. 56) states that some Colt and Springfield barrels were used in early Ithaca production. Is there any other information and/or seasoned collector experience that...
Like this one Johnny? I think it is du-lite, 1016xxx.

I don't think the tang is long enough to be Colt frame. RUN
Maybe Scott can help answer this. He has several late Colts on his site that reference having Box C barrels (some with D some with 7).
Thanks Scott. I misled by saying spec change; I should have said when the switch was made from pin-based to welded-base process.
I think I now understand. So on the welded-base magazines,...
After the spec changed from pin-based to welded-base magazines in mid-1943, did Colt manufacture any of their own welded-base mags? I have not seen a single Colt with a "Colt Manufactured"...
Ray, does the magazine have any marking on it ... top or bottom of the lip or on the bottom of the base?
Appears to be a nice looking 1942 Colt. In this serial number range Colt also stamped the serial number on the rear of the slide underneath the firing pin retainer. If the number on the slide...

An interesting aspect is that the way the law is written, it appears a pistol would have to have been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce at some time for the law to apply ...
Take all the personal stuff aside ... and what is left in both NAA#5 and EXP #8 threads is a fascinating learning experience. I do not have a local technical mentor; I find this "autopsy" approach...
