47"-48" is correct for a WWII issue sling. The 56" I would guess only has two holes for the keeper? They are almost certainly post war Austrian Stg slings. They look the part, and make great 98k...

33/40 and 98/40 sight hoods are very different than regular 98k hoods...and not easy to find. If Jake has one for you, you are very lucky!
