Especially for the current pricing / value, I second Karl's opinion on Poyer. I wouldn't hesitate to include it in the list.

Very nice, Ed!!
Emri... I agree. It is pretty ironic that they bother to lay bubble wrap on a table only to pile the pistols on top of each other.
Duane... Click on his profile, and go to his page. There is a link for photos there (which I didn't even know existed.)
George... How about a couple pictures of the entire gun?
Thanks for the confirmation! I think I should stop drinking... (Funny though... I don't drink!) It must have been something funky with the ipad.
Am I seeing things, or is there an "S" stamped on the rear of the barrel hood?
An original Colt from '43 or '44 would not have had a blued finish. If the gun is in fact blued, it has been refinished, and not worth your estimate. Probably closer to the $800 to $1200 (-ish)...
Aww... come on. Those books are too expensive! [Sarcasm off...]
Even if the buyer paid $1k for Clawson's big book, he would be several thousand dollars ahead of the game now. (Or, at least he...
There are really no words to express how much of a loss his passing is to the collecting community... Never mind his family. His research and published work really changed the face of collecting......
This USN hammered at $14k. Someone really wanted it.
The one at RIA today just hammered at $17k.
RIA had a refinished one in 2011, but I don't remember what it hammered at. I want to say it was in the $8k to $10k range, but I could very easily be wrong on that.
Also, around that same time,...
I would agree with this if it actually sells in the estimated range... I feel it is an auction house trying to market the pieces in their auction. Sometimes they are very low on estimates... This...
+1 on a complete strip and full clean and lube... Then assess if anything needs to be done.
I've been checking several times a day... Glad the site is back up!!
Merry Christmas to you! Very nice looking pistola there...
Well, I guess that's something. Not much... but something all the same.
I know of 27 North American Arms M1911 prototype pistols. (Not all of these 27 pistols are original... they were simply observed.) These include serial numbers listed in the books, and observed...
Tommy... That was yesterday's result, but the auction discussed was their last premier auction. That being said, I was also surprised by that result.
+1
Misery is optional...
As Scott said, I had no agenda with the photos I uploaded... it is the only photo set I know of with 5 correct and known Singers that were issued. (I actually shared those photos a few years ago,...
Sorry - double post.
Not in the photos I posted... But they are within a few hundred of each other! :icon_lol:
...and here's a few more. All siad and done, this thread has 12 issued Singers shown. That's impressive!!
...
Fantastic... a JSB!!! :^)
As usual... very nice John!
