I saw it last night. Not a bad movie, well worth seeing. A couple of the younger lead actors looked too similar to each other which made the film a bit hard to follow in places.
Keep an eye out for...
I am sorry to hear this. Mr Law published books on small arms that otherwise would not have been published.

Records at the National Archives in London show that 30,000 Garand rifles were issued to Combined Operations and the RAF.
I believe this purchase predates the 38001 acquired through Lend Lease,...
Thanks for the issue details.
cplnorton, you have a PM from me.

relics6165. Do you know which issue of Precision Shooter the article on Sedgley appeared in, as I would like to get a copy?
cplnorton. I have had no luck with Sedgley records. However, an archive...
Hello John, Seasons Greetings!
I do remember are communications - 4 years, how time fly's.
I will be following up again with the Fiji Consulate here in Sydney once the holiday period is over,...
cplnorton. I will certainty let you know if I come across any information regarding records for R F Sedgley.
I am not sure if the ATF would hold any records relating Sedgley? As they went out of...
My interest in R F Sedgley is due to two orders that were place with R F Sedgley for Springfield rifles, through the British Purchasing Commission.
One order was for 500 rifles, these went to Fiji...
I know this is a long shot but does anyone know if the records for R F Sedgley Inc PA, still exist?
They ceased trading in 1957 apparently.

What are the date of manufacture for some of the earliest British proofed 'Lend Lease' rifles please?
The reason that I ask is that I believe 30,000 Garand rifles were supplied under the Cash &...
No, they didn't arrive in theater unarmed. For whatever reason it was decided that some units would be equipped with American equipment including small arms. I dont know why this was so.

I have not seen any documentation in the National Archives in London about the 38,001 Garand rifles that were supplied under Lend Lease. Personally I think these would have been forwarded to...
This deal pre dates Lend Lease and is known as the "Destroyers for Bases Agreement" . In brief the UK gave freehold some naval bases to the USA and leased some others for 99 years in exchange for 50...
Sounds like it will be marked with a W in a crown if it has 38-200 on the barrel. If so it is one of a British contract with Colt of 18,250 units.
It will also have a second number from 1 to 18250...
They were Model 42MB rifles rather than M44's.

Unfortunately, quite historically inaccurate, as far as what actually happened.
When the Model 1917 was issued to the British Home Guard in WW2 it was often referred to (incorrectly) colloquially as the "Springfield". Some modern day reseachers have put two and two together...

In your post are the crossed pennant proof mark from a .455 Colt Government Model or holly of holly's a 45acp?

Looks very similar to a British military proof mark, of crossed pennants. Just coincidence of course.

If there are any charts or tables showing quantifies of small arms that may have been refurbished at Springfield or simply shipped from Springfield to the UK during Ww2.

Could anyone please tell me if the above book has any information on shipments of rifles, pistols or MG's to Great Britain in the Second World War. Either the cash and carry program or more likely...
The length of each episode allows for complex plots and the development of the characters. The final series is being repeated here in Australia, where Foyle has joined post war MI5. In someways this...
The slide at least bears a British military proof mark of crossed pennants, located above the rampant horse. I can't see any other military markings, only London commercial proof marks.
