Oops. My browser is not getting along with the 'edit post' function.
Thanks, guys. I didn't look at it very close because I figured if it was real I couldn't afford it. But it wasn't ringing any bells as anything I'd ever heard of.
The .22 caliber military-dress...
Thanks, guys! If there really was such a thing I knew I couldn't afford it anyway. And I'm certainly no British rifle collector (although people do keep giving me No. 4s) but I thought I kind of...
I'm attending an auction tomorrow and came upon this when I went to the preview:

I believe there were a couple of different sources of these imports. I think the earliest may have been directly from Israel and a later batch had been sent to the Contras or somewhere else in...
I hope he controls all that surface rust!
Rick: Do you have any more pictures? I'd like to see a close-up of the nose of the stock and a shooter's eye view of that rear sight.
Both of those replies sound like they came through the looking glass.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but: The 450 Marlin is the .45-70 with a belt added to the case so that the factories can safely...
I'd like a copy, if possible - please. The pdf idea would be easier for everyone (except 5MF).
If there are no markings on the barrel it brings the chambering into question. Be sure to identify exactly what cartridge that rifle is chambered for before shooting it.
I avoided commenting on the S&K scope mount in the hopes that they had improved it. It is also my experience that it is totally unsatisfactory.
Really. Jeff is right. So many '03s and 'A3s have been sporterized they are virtually "a drug on the market".
Spend some time looking at "03 sport" on Gunbroker and similar sites and you will...
I wonder if it was someone here that I was bidding against?
I know I paid too much for the good parts, although there are a lot of nice parts to salvage. I'm crossing my fingers that the barrel...
I wish I could see the serial number on the score card more clearly. Looks about right.
"exact reproductions" That sounds close enough! ;<{
I think the barrel is already drilled and tapped so the spacing is already established.
Thanks for all the guidance, guys!
Thanks, Herschel. O & E sounds familiar. Are those the same bases used on the Marine sniper rifles?
Can someone please describe the original scope mount bases that would have been used on a M1922? A good enough description to identify them in the wild? Maybe photos?
I would really appreciate...
I wonder how that Pope Rib Stop on their site works.
I am so sorry to hear of Dick's passage.
His efforts at putting up these forums many years ago were such an incredible boost to the rifleman community and the efficient dissemination of knowledge...
Besides being saddened by Michael Petrov's passing, I am alarmed that I may not be able to obtain his second volume on custom gunmakers.
an anyone tell me whaer I might obtain one?
Thanks!
I am saddened.
God speed Michael!
It's fun to be in at the start of something new. I'm sure that, as a result of this thread, NM M1917s will begin showing up at gunshows in a week or so!
So did all the Mark Is have to cycle through Remington? Surely not. Maybe they just got a lot of rifles to test them in for interchangability?
I wonder what (PED DEV) means?
Something to do with the Pederson Device?
Slamfire, Why do you insist on calling the Swiss rifle round and the 20 mm shell 'greased", and also your references to "greasing" your own ammo.
The Swiss round has a >wax< ring at the mouth of...
