I am constantly amazed by your extensive knowledge of all things Enfield JB. I would like to personally thank you for all your posts over the years. Every question I've had about Enfields has...
Thanks for the replies guys. Very interesting.
That's the reason I'm looking to find out if the metal is marked DP anywhere. I'm trying to find the cause for this rifle to have been DPed. So, what I glean from your reply is throat and muzzle...
I have a 1918 Enfield SmLE lll* that I just picked up pretty cheep. It has DP in raised letters (how is that done??) on the right side of the rear stock. I've taken it apart and checked the headspace...
Great site!!
It answered a lot of questions I've had about Mil Spec ammo for a long time.
Thanks very much!
Art,
The action locks up better and tighter than most of my other much newer doubles and it's smooth as silk. There's no separations or discoloration on any of the soldered parts. The gun is in very...

Hello All,
A while back I pick up an old double barrel shot gun made by WM Lawrence in Laconia New Hampshire. I can't find much on this shotgun online so I'm here to ask all the knowledgeable folks...
Thanks again Tuna.
I will shoot for 2700 instead of 2800. Then I'll tune the load to the gun. That should save me a few rounds through the Garand.
The thing is so close to new I almost hate to...
Thanks for the info Tuna.
I read that the velocity of the M2 ball is 2800 fps. Do you think 48 grs of IMR 4895 will get me the 2800 fps I'm looking for? Maybe a little too hot?
I may have some...
Hello all,
I'm getting ready to load for my new to me 1955 all matching M1 Garand. I was wondering if anyone has a load that emulates M2 ball using these military cases and Sierra 150 gr FMJBTs....
I went to their web site and didn't find anything about a left handed anything. Maybe they haven't posted it yet???
Wow! Thanks Richard for taking the time to write that extensive explanation. Now I understand why I had a hard time figuring out what fits. Different kits for different applications at different...
Thanks for all the replies to my question.
I'm still a little confused though. I guess I didn't word my question right. I'll try to do better this time. What I'm trying to find out is which one of...
Hello all,
I've been looking around eBay and other places, to try to find the cleaning kit and oil bottle accessories that are correct and original for the stock compartment of my 1955 built...
Thanks for the responses guys.
barretcreek, that's a very interesting site. Definitely worth a look-see.
Hello all,
I read often that a hot load with the wrong pressure curve can bend or damage the op-rod on a Garand. I would like to know exactly where the op-rod bends when this happens. A picture of a...
Yuck Yuck Yuck! :-)
Art, I've been an Auto mechanic for 40 years. If a thing works, it's "running", with or without a pull rope. :-)
A final thanks to all those who tried to help.

Last update:
We finally made it to the range. The rifle ran flawlessly. My buddy is happy now and isn't interested in the particulars of the repairs. So no more detailed explanations will be...
Update:
My shooting buddy just got an invoice from Springfield stating the rifle was in the mail, on it's way home, no charge. The invoice states they "opened up the gas port" and "tested with 40...
Thanks for the extensive information Richard.
Yes, I did check the spindle. That was the first place I went. Everything checked out fine. No changes after failure.
As for the -34 manual, we went...
Update
Well, we couldn't find anything wrong with the gas system. Checked everything I know and found no problems. It's on it's way to Springfield. I'll post the outcome when he gets it back.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will be looking a lot closer at the gas system.
nf1e,
Do you have the specs for the gas tube? I couldn't find them anywhere on the web. I guess my next step is to compare the gas hole and piston hole to my M14SA and see if they measures the same...
