Felt funny mentioning it, so said nothing.
Personally, I do try to keep an open mind on music- it does need creativity to survive as an art form without stagnating.
With that in mind, there are some genre's that are completely over my head and beyond me, which is actually o.k.
I'm fortunate in that I have a fairly well rounded collection here that still has some un-heard material on it.
Now for a good set of phones :p

Dionne Warwick. She had lots of great tunes.
My own favorite is probably Lady Day - Billie Holiday. There were some others ... my own mother, for one. She could SING! Then there is Doris Day (I'm not kidding, she was pretty good) and Peggy Lee. Anita O'Day, Ella, Dinah Washington, and ARETHA! Damn! There's a few for you.
Aretha . . . .the “Screech Owl” voice!
Ella . . . .Very good “scat” singer (if you like that sort of “singing”)
How 'bout Etta James?

Always liked Laura Branigan. She seemed to put her whole heart and soul into her music. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXx0pWpszKg
I will admit. IMHO the ''queen of Soul" was hard to beat when she was on....like this clip from "The Blues Brothers."

Oyagi, Etta James was a prodigious talent.
