1903 SA#802,733. Possible USMC. What's close to it? I'm pretty sure it's not a hit after talking to knowledgeable folk on other boards(probably some of the same people on this board!).

How about 876002?
It looks like a Duck , quacks like a..................
No hit on 1903 #876002.
Thanks for the info.
I mentioned this rifle to John Beard several years ago and he inferred that it was probably was a USMC rifle.
It has the "boned" stock , "puke" green parkerizing, wrench marks on the the 6-41 "USMC" marked "Sedgeley" barrel. The bolt is electro-penciled with the serial #.
I bought the rifle several year's ago and it was not represented as a Marine Corps rifle then. So I doubt the seller faked it.
Check back with me in a couple weeks, I just found a fairly decent stash of USMC Serial numbers from NARA (DC) when I was there yesterday. Most are surveys of from West Coast Units and marines sent to Santo Domingo. Can't promise it'll be in there but worth looking once I finish entering them.
Sounds Marine. Also it's Corps, not Corp.
I have a high number RIA that is Marine. If I sent you the serial could you check if it is in your records? Thank you.
Send it.
Stupid question were any of the 1903 Greek returns from the CMP several years ago possible USMC?
Maybe. You can never say never. The Greeks drilled hatcher holes which tends to throw off some buyers.
