Colt 1911
New to the forum
I have a Colt which was issued to the USS New York
It is a 1913 and has two two tone mags and appears to be all original
It is blued and may be refinished, grips are correct......
Any ideas on value as a rough estimate?
Thank you
Jon
Don't want to shoot it as it appears barrel is marked P with and H below it maki g it 100 plus years old!

Try...
posting this on the Colt Forum (just do a search on that title) - the real expertise is there. They will certainly want photos.

There are several people here on this forum that have expertise on the 1911 and 1911A1 pistols. You will need to show us some close up detailed pictures to start with and give us the serial number too.

Your Colt 1911 was made in 1918. It looks to be refinished as this pistol would have come with what has come to be known as "Black Army" finish. It started out as bluing but due to Colt's hurry in finishing the product they cut out the final step before finish was applied. This resulted in an almost black looking finish that was very fragile and would flake off quite easily.

Still a nice collectable pistol.
