The post WW2 slide is a killer on a pre WW2 Colt that originally had a matching serial numbered slide. Has serial number been dicked with, or just photograph? Really get scarce when they go past C200000, as they were being transferred to the military contract.

The "C" Colts were fine pistols. I owned one I ordered through a PX in Korea when I was there in '68. Unfortunately I succumbed to the "improve it" disease that seems to affect most M1911 owners and never liked it much after that and eventually sold it. Live and learn.

All the Government Model Colts had a C prefix serial number from 1912 until 1949 when the C was changed to a suffix.

C1 to C240287 from 1912 until 1949, then 240288-C to 335169-C from 1949 to 1970.
