Thank you for this post! First I've ever heard of this. Surprised loss of one engine resulted in such a serious issue. Not surprised russian planes reacted in such a predatory manner. After all, they have a history of blasting planes out of the sky without any regard for international standards. Swedish intervention was everything one would expect of a real world ally. When I was coming back from 'Nam, we landed on Okinawa and we witnessed an SR71 take off. Immediately a security person (Okinawan) wanted to confiscate all our cameras as we were photographing the takeoff. Naturally we told him to 'shove it' and we boarded out plane!
