What is the basis of the up-coming "Greyhound" movie?

I found the paperback , I think might be the basis: "Black May" by Michael Gannon copyright 1999.

Very informative and undeline the lack of co-operation from Adm. King, in taking the offense to the nazi wolfpacks.

Then the co-operation SKYROCKETED and culminated in the May, 1943 tide turning to the Allies favor from thereon.

Most humerous event ocurred when the homing torpedo was shipped from the US to UK, and a week later the PRojct manager get s postcard from UK Customs inquiring about a special homing torpedo he sneaked into the UK. Only the British.

I thought it was pretty good. It was filmed on the USS Kidd moored in Baton Rouge. However the CGI that they use and the film techniques make it look like the ship is really at sea. I thought it was very convincing. The un-named Fletcher class DD, call Sign Greyhound, is partnered with a Canadian Flower class corvette and a Royal Navy DD which I think may have been a Tribal class. The only thing I could throw rocks at was they had some over the top Nazi markings in billboard size on
the U boat conning towers and they had the U boats hacking in and getting on the TBS broadcasting intimidating messages to the allied escorts. I think most of the time submarines wanted to NOT let the escorts know they were there. When I can find a dvd I will be buying it!

"Greyhound" is based on the C.S. Forester novel "The Good Shepherd." At least according to Wikipedia.

I watched it the other night. It's a good film, but not great. Very short at about 90 minutes long. Other than the first few minutes of the film, it's all about their effort to protect a convoy of ships. Some of the CGI is good while some I thought poor. One thing the kept bothering me was that they were often in very rough seas crashing through large waves, yet when they would show the interior shots of the crew they were standing perfectly still with virtually no motion of the ship. Definitely worth watching, though.
