into a "bullseye" format?

The SN ran through the ColtMfg., as year made.

It;s on layaway, so I have to wait to detail and check for indicators for who did the work??

It has the "BOMar" rib and target sights mounted.

Where to look for marksof the smith who did it.

Thanks,

got a pic?

some marked the slide (internal)
Chow stamped his name IIRC,

Shockey had that fancy mousetrap sping,

but not sure if either were putting out pistols that early,
however that date does not mean it was done in that year

Jim Clark marked his guns inside on the slide rail with the gun number and month/year built. His front grip strap treatment, I think he called it "Tiger Tooth", can't be mistaken. He later started marking the slide with his name and Shreveport, La., and later Keithville, La.

I'm not sure if Giles marked his in any way,

those with much more knowledge in them than I can look at a few pics and see the subtle differences each maker had,

I remember that Swenson's trademark was the squared trigger guard, combined with the shorten slide and the S&W rear sight.

Did he use a "J" or "K" framed rear sight?

K frame I think

Next question on the "tuned" Colt, it has a full-length recoil rod, appears to need a "hex" wrench to unscrew or "turn 90 degrees" to take a apart.

Photo's are coming later.

It's in detailing stage for cleaning & lube and determine what might be replaced.

Toss the full length guide rod as it's only purpose is to aggravate you removing and installing it. Made to sell but not to buy.

Just trying to get it OUT for detiling and lubing the critter. So, I can get to the range and SHOOT IT!!!!

WIth the Slide off, there are stamped numberd [I think are rebuilt/ re-tuning dates] of 1-70 & 6-99??

It's not a Clark. He didn't use a full length guid rod, and wouldn't work on one that had it.

Am going to get a new barrel.

Anyone recognize the two-piece recoli guide, as to manufacturere??

Definately, one step up from "BUBBA".

The slide bottom has numbers stampmed " 1 70" & "99 6", dates of when refurbished??

Thanks

Barrel is a late WWII (1945) Colt military barrel with the C in square, and P proof on lug. Has the look of an individuals attempt at making a target pistol.

did five rounds over chronograph. no problems
Gave ny buddy a five round mag for his turn and bang, bangbangbang, and bang.

I tried again and got the same report.

So do I need to replace the both the sear / disconnector and the new four-fingered spring, and run the trigger screw in till is stops and back-out before firing?

THanks for replies.

Sounds like a hammer/sear problem. The hammer may have been modified in an effort to get a lighter pull, or the sear contact has been modified (or both). The trigger stop is just to prevent over travel. Just back it out until you get the other problem fixed.

ditto Johnny's comments

looks like as mentioned one step or maybe 3 above bubba,

clean the sear and hammer and see how they interact, maybe a worn sear that caused the tripleplay, or worn hammer ???

a slight bend to the sear spring may solve it, or not, won't know till you try,

and yes, ditch that recoil guide, standard stuff works fine,

What should be the diameter of the bore for the disconnector to operate.
Noticed that there seem to be punch marks on top surface as to try an minimize that bore?

Did purchase a new mainspring [three fingers} and looking to get replacement sear and disconnector.

are you talking about the disconnect hole in the frame, where it sticks thru to ride against the slide?

and curious if the numbers on the slide are the serial number ?

Inside slide marking looks somewhat like what Jim Clark used, but rest of pistol doesn't.

A Clark "Hardball", 302 last digits of serial number, assembled in October 1971

could have been Clark reworked by ??? at a later time?

all speculation of course
