Here's mine. USGI ART II set-up. It's a great shooter and have taken several white-tail deer with it.

Who made your mount? How does it do RE holding zero? Any difficulty without cheek pad or other artificial comb?

Pretty rifle.

The mount is USGI. It always seemed to hold it's zero. I probably could have used a cheek rest if I were doing some serious shooting, but it worked out fine for me. The rifle shoots better than I can shoot it!

The mount is a second variant LEATHERWOOD.I built one up using that mount with a Redfield base for a Marlin 336 and Leupold Rings parkerized and a Leupold Vari-X-II 3x-9x scope(Matte Finish) as I didn't have a consistant supply of the 7.62mm Match Ammo that the Leatherwood cams were cut for.

I shot one moose and beaucoup deer with my M14(NM) using that setup.

Sold it off later and went to a ARMS mount and flip lever setup with their (made in a tank factory)rings with one inch inserts. That shot VERY WELL too.

I am currently building a rifle up from GI Parts that will be fitted with one of the new supposedly US GI SEI mounts so we'll see what shoots.

My one and only M1D is fitted out with a DCM sale one inch mount and Weaver K-4-60B
and while it does perform reasonably well isn't in the same class as the M14's.

Cheers,

JR

John,

Does your K4 weaver have a 1" tube? I've heard that some M1D's had GI 1" rings, but have never seen one. My M1D shoots well, but it is nothing to write home to mom about.

That rifle looks great.
Here is a LRB M25 that I built up.

Very nice Gent's .... either one looks about 100% nicer then any I've ever seen in the field. Nice stocks with no dents, scratches or gouges... same for the optic. :icon_lol:
