Destroyed vintage Colt box and contents, what do I have here?

Picked this up the other day. It has the appearance of being the remains of a vintage Colt Government Model box top and bottom and part of the end label.

No idea where the pistol went but there were two gun related newspaper clippings from the early 1960's in with this stuff.

All the paperwork looks and feels vintage. Anyone able to identify how early this may be?

Any thoughts on value?

Don't know exactly what you are looking for but I will break the ice. Some of the paperwork in your box is only unique to the shop that sold it in NO otherwise it appears to be a pre war box. If you had the lid it would be worth some $ to someone. I don't know why Colt was using the Spanish lingo. They would later have a contract with the Argentines for the 1927 Colt Sistema but before then why? Here is a repro box someone posted on GB.

Thanks Allen. Other than the business card (which is larger than the ones in use today) what else do you think might have been added prior to being sold?

As far as what I'm looking for, I know this stuff has value, but not being super pristine, I don't know how much and I can't find anything to compare it too.

I'm thinking about having some of this framed for the man cave, but don't want to do so if it has more value than I think.

There used to be some real 1911 specialist here on the forum. They've either all left or just visit very seldom now. You might try other sites such as the one below and check with the auction sites every so often. There can't be too many of them around and it's not just the rarity that will bring the $ but how deep someone's pockets are and how badly they want the box as you well know so it's hard to compare.

For what it's worth, the four digit phone number on the business card is probably from the early '50 and before. Our last four digit number predated the conversion of our local phone service to a dial system.
