Managed to get out an try a new load for my Savage Stealth in 6.5 Creedmoor today at 100 yds. 130 gr Bergers over 35gr of Varget in Lapua brass with small primers.

1st target was new and clean. 1st shot at 7 in the 10 ring. Corrected and put 9 shots in the 10 ring at 12. Dropped the elevation down and put 10 in the X. 200 -13X

On a roll so shot a clean wet target that had been on the board for a time. 200 - 20X.

Good looking rifle! Really good looking target! Must admit, for just about anything one might shoot in the lower 48, that little 6.5 Creedmore looks like it'd take care of the business! Would be curious as to how the rifle does at longer distances. Sincerely. bruce.

Out playing with a few different load combinations this morning at 100 yds ahead of the rain. Notice the fancy shooting bench. He He
Top center if my standard 6.5 load of 35 gr of Varget. Runs right at 2615.
Started with a clean rifle and ran 4 patches through the rifle between groups. Funny how the first shot after patching is 1.2 - 1 moa from the rest of the group.
Barrel was pretty warm after shooting 50 rnds in an hour.

Took her out for a little exercise this morning. 100 yds 10 rnd. Sorry about the two high and right, that was me, not the rifle or the ammo.

Very fine rifle! Must admit, am really giving thought to trying to do a similar set up. That 6.5 just seems to be a natural! Sincerely. bruce.

A natural indeed.
This caliber seems to be much more tolerant to variations in loads than any of my .308 precision rifles.
I don't currently shoot any long range, but it's a nice feeling to know I am prepared if need be.

Just a thought about first round flyers. This is not uncommon firing the M-1 Garand as the first round from a clip may end up out of the group. One learns to compensate. Have had a few rather nice varmint/target rifles. Have noticed that best results followed a couple of fouling shots. Last heavy barrel .308 I shot a lot was a Rem. 700 SF-VS. It was the only rifle I've ever owned that put its first cold barrel shot into the group. Shot that thing till it barely held MOA. Took almost 12 years. Probably should had a new barrel installed. Oh well. By the way ... it was stone cold accurate shooting prone w/ a Harris bi-pod. Possibly you might find such an arrangement useful. Sincerely. bruce.

The two " flyers" on my target were the 7th and 9th rounds and entirely my fault. I just didn't take the time required between shots to pay attention to settling in and watching my breathing. Still fun and I can stand a couple of " flyers 1/2" out from group center. Heck, it's just for personal enjoyment. Way too old to compete against anyone but myself these days. Hit the 71 mark tomorrow God willing.

Happy Birthday!

Thanks.
Boy did I goof. Birthday is Wednesday the 16th and the wife let me know I missed it by a couple of days. Dang, since I retired I haven't kept up on what day it is. Haven't lost the years yet, but they tell me that's coming.
