I remember those light rifle targets from when I was a kid. They were used for one of the NRA Marksmanship Qualification programs. That was a great program that is still in existence. The light rifle program was for your plinking/hunting .22. No slings or target rifle sights but you shot prone, sitting, and offhand. That particular program has changed and doesn't use those targets anymore but Marksmanship Qualification is still around and is still a good one. Our Boy Scout troop uses it and it's very popular. While Marksmanship Qualification has changed, the light rifle course of fire is still in the NRA Smallbore rulebook and those targets are still used for it.

Spent a lot of hours prone on stinky old mats at our local indoor 50' range as a kid. Thought I was getting pretty good until a gent in his 90s set up next to me and cleaned two sets of fly spec targets in a row. 55 years since then and I have never come close to cleaning a fly spec set.

I remember them too. You didn't have to make as many trips to see where you hit.

They were much more presentable than the "old targets" we have today:

I thought it was illegal to make a target of a president/former president.

I didn't make them but I approve of these thoughts of whoever did.

Alfred e. there's a man who should run for president.
I heard the story about the president targets when some guys were shooting at Obama election posters at the range and the range officer came over and made them take them down. true or not? I don't know.

Wasn't Sadam Hussein a president? A lot of us shot at him.

I think it may apply to u.s. presidents.

Many ranges will not let you shoot at targets with pictures of people on them. I remember the Ayatollah Khomeini targets were popular but ranges even in the late 70's wouldn't let you shoot at them. Shooters have a bad enough rap as it is.
Some ranges won't even let junior clubs shoot a human silhouette targets.

Everything is racist. It's how weaklings win arguments and make excuses for things they don't approve of.

The first target is called an A32. At first glance, I thought the second was an A-36, but it has white scoring rings (1 and 2) which the A-36 does not. Is there any nomenclature on the bottom of the target indicating what it is?
