This rifle was sold as an Eddystone, I say a Winchester. Is it a 1917
or a P14?41261 It's chambered in 30-06.

The P14 was chambered in .303 British.

It's a Winchester built Pattern 1914 or P14 rifle in .303 British. We would have to have additional photos of the end of the barrel to determine if it was converted to .30-06.

Yep what fjruple said. I'd try a 30-06 snap cap in it to see if it Chambers. You could add pics of barrel, ramp, and follower. If it was properly converted the barrel should be marked and the follower changed. The ramp on a 30-06 barrel is different than a 303 barrel. Rear sight is also graduated different.

First Win's recieved followed the British marking until US War Dept, got standardized.

I viewed a P14 marked with a "W" back in 2009 @ the WACA show in Pullayup, should have bought it. Was chambered as .303

I have two W stamped receivers that were 303s, one is a 30/06 and the other is a 308 Norma Mag. I have two that will become 8mm 338 Winchester Mags.
