asking for help in information about a Springfield dated 1835 black powder rifle. not in bad shape and looks like it has been sitting on a wall for decades. has bayonet and cleaning rod but, hammer will not stay back when cocked (broken internal catch?) any idea on a market value on these and is the part or parts available to remedy the hammer problem? thank you.

look up S & S firearms in NY or lodgewood Mfg, either one should have what you need, could be defective sear, sear spring or tumbler

What you call a cleaning rod is actually the ramrod. Is the musket in original flint or a percussion alteration? Pictures would be nice.
