Hi. Looking for info on Kimber of Oregon detachable rings and bases. I've been told that the 1" Kimber rings used on early Kimber 82s and 89 were made by Talley. They are graceful, beautifully finished and use specific bases unlike anything available today, and were available for a wide range of guns. I have two sets, one blued and one matte, and a set of rings for the pre-64 model 70. Are they Talley rings in drag? Are the bases still available? Any notion of value?

All info gratefully received

Talley bases are still available. They only work with Talley rings as a dedicated mounting system. Bases are specific to rifle models, rings fit all the bases. I can't answer to your older Kimber stuff as definitely made by Tally. I have ring sets with the integral base from Browning and Remington. The rings inside the packaging have Tally marked on them. If you can post a pic of what you now have, I will try to identify them.

My Kimber M82 has a grooved receiver. It is a Mxxxx serial number, if that means anything.
