Is there any SRS listing for RIA, model 1903 rifle, #225,341?

The Barrel is dated 01/13 - RIA. Stock 'cartouche' is "C.N. 1913". The metal has remains of original finish.

The rifle seems to have got into Civilian hands before WW1.

Thanks in advance for checking.

There isn't a hit, but here is the range. It sounds like it might possibly be a NRA sales rifle from your description. John Beard has done a lot of study of the NRA sales rifles serial number ranges. He would be the one to ask on that.

NRA Sales rifles rarely ended up on SRS and I'd strongly suggest it is, as well. Pictures?

Thanks for responses. This RIA 1903 Rifle has been passed on to a son in Florida.

Regrettably, I did not preserve digital pictures and just found my 'data card' tucked in a book.

Which of the SNs are NRA sales?

I don't have "specifics" but a lot of the very late RIAs (before production shut down in 1913) are.

To my knowledge no direct documentation has been discovered at the national archives (or other sources) concerning connection of a SN to a sales document (or transfer, shipping ticket or bills of laden) during that program.

I know - nothing in SRS (which, of course Frank Mallory gathered from research at the National Archives). It has just been my "observational experience" that a lot of very late 1913 RIAs are NRA Sales rifles.

Ok just clarifying, when you mentioned they "rarely show up in the SRS." It piqued my interest that you saw a hit I didn't

I hate to "never say never" :)

Based on your description, your rifle, RIA S/N 225341, is a sales rifle with high probability. As a sales rifle, it would indeed have gotten into a civilian (or a military officer's personal) hands before WWI. Is the rifle marked "N.R.A." behind the front trigger guard screw? Please advise.

Thanks!

J.B.

John: RIA rifle, #225341, lacks the "N.R.A" marking on the trigger-guard.
