Saw on the CMP auction, an H&R "Special Grade". Yes, it's correct but has "new" wood. Excuse me, but that's not "correct".

They really need to remove the word "CORRECT". CMP should know better than that.

It can't be 'correct'.

It has brand new wood, not an original HRA stock, which is the only way it could be called 'correct'

Nothing new guys. CMP sold a bunch of these " Service Grade Specials" rifles a few years ago. They arrived as new in crates with no wood. I grabbed all I could at the time. All metal is pristine collector grade. These are not to confused with the CMP specials that have the reparked part and criterion barrels.

My sqauadding partner at the 2014 CMP games had one. It was the most pristine M1 I've ever handled.

The CMP has no idea what happened to the wood, but it's been speculated it was robbed for drill/parade rifles
