I saw the last 20-30 mins of Red Tails today. Every bit as propagandized and ridiculous as I expected. Rest assured, the black man is the absolute best at everything, physics never got in the Red Tails way and had they been given the chance they would have wiped out the Luftwaffe in a week.

Yet again, a good story about good people doing their part and holding their own has to be hollywooded up for the liberal propaganda machine.

My favorite tidbits:
Pilot gets shot down, takes part in an escape with a bunch of other pilots. Fellow pilot visits his unit to proclaim him the best soldier he'd ever known.
Repeated references to them being the "best" pilots.
Evidence of their greatness supported by their defiance of physics and shooting down of 4 ME262s in less than a minute.
Complete disregard for even the most basic historical accuracy when it comes to air combat.

It burns me up that this could have been a good movie. It could have been inspiring instead of propaganda. It could have shown reality instead of comic book fantasy.

So many potentially good movies have been ruined by the pc hacks. Even worse, these movies / documentaries are embraced as truth by many. A lot of people never "waste their time" reading about any of this stuff. Why bother when it's easily obtainable via the internet,tv or the education system which lays the groundwork.

You mean "The red Tails" did win the war all by themselves?

The way this movie seems to tell it, they were just held back by all those white pilots getting in their way.

I did a few minutes research and they did receive credit for 3 jets shot down on the Berlin mission portrayed in the film. The Luftwaffe confirmed 3 lost on that mission.

Then again, the squadron initially claimed 11. But, fighter pilots of all nations and colors are well known for being bad at math when it comes to kill counts.

The biggest problem with the film is that Lucas is a talentless hack who got lucky with StarWars which he ripped off from other stories and films, and peoplewill support anything he makes.

You left out the big whopper that no bomber they escorted went down due to enemy aircraft.

Yeah, sadly even veterans of the squadron have tried to get that myth to go away. They did a good job and had a good record. They were not the supermen the liberals want them to be though.

I guess that is going to be one of those legends, like "Davy Crockett killed him a bear when he was only 3"

The myths die hard. How many times have you heard that Shermans were terribly stupid designs that burned because they were gas instead of diesel. Yet, the vast majority of WW2 tanks were gas. Plenty of German crews burned to death in their tanks. If you shoot a Jap rifle, you will die because the bolt will fly out and go through your head. GIs got killed left and right because the Garand clip ping was the loudest sound on the battlefield.... Until they started winning the war by tossing empty clips and shooting the idiot enemy soldiers who popped up to look, like turkeys. 70yrs later and the myths just keep goin.
