Hello, looking for some help with what I believe is a Model 12 Trench.
I’ve looked on the net and this site had the most knowledge out there. I’m not new to WWII rifles and handguns but no experience with shotguns.
The serial number should be in the late trench gun range from what I’ve seen. The stock has the swivel and the cartouche is there, barely able to be seen from being refinished but there. The barrel is the right length and has three notches in it. I’m not sure about the barrel markings and if they are correct.
Right now it’s missing the buttplate, screws, heat shield and an extractor.
1st Question: What is the barrel band with the sling swivel on the front? I’ve not seen this in any pictures on the net. It appears to be made that way. Could it be cut from a heat shield?
2nd Question: Am I right in thinking this is a correct trench gun or do I have a converted Riot gun?
3rd Question: What is a good source for a rear stock? Gun Parts doesn’t seem to have any.
4th If I get a repo shield would this have the 4 row instead of the 6 row?
Any and all info will be appreciated. I’m pretty excited about this, I inherited it with no story so figuring this out and restoring it will be fun. If it is a trench I would like to get a repo shield for it. I already have the correct bayonet from my other rifles.
