I decided to make a build video series. Here is the first part. I sort of expect some criticism and flaming on this as there are people who are very particular and passionate about how to inspect receivers and build rifles. This video is aimed at the home builder who doesn't have access to special tooling but there are some tools which I consider essential, otherwise you're shooting in the dark.

The bottom line is that there are no M14 build videos out there on the internet, so I'm doing the best I can to fill that void.

This video is not intended for the professional gunsmith who has all the gauges and blueprints to check every dimension, but there are those that want to get into home building and hopefully this will help them decide weather to build themselves or pay a professional to do it.

I essentially used Gus Fisher's post on receiver inspection as the framework for this video ( http://m14forum.com/gus-fisher/113272-inspecting-m1a-receiver-prior-purchase-when-you-first-get.html) but added other things that I learned from other individuals along the way.

Special thanks to:
Gus Fisher, Jon Wolfe, Art Luppino, IRON WORKER, jake2far, 82nd, Hamstrosity and Lou at LRB.

I hope this helps anyone just getting into M14 building or inspecting their kit to identify any surprises.

Tony.
