Don't know if it's still around, but there was a company making "British Black" spray paint
Global Sales Ltd.

Trade name, AERVOE PACIFIC

Many used to use high temperature flat black but the unissued No. 4 wore a finish the looks like a semi-gloss black. I am building one now will have a low gloss finish. Samples of the paint match quite closely with a couple of the postwar rifles sold off some 20-25 years ago. Good luck and hope these replies help.

Use Brownell's Aluma-Hyde in Matte Black. After it is fully cured use any good gun oil to wipe it down and it will look just like the original Suncorite and will be very durable.

The stuff was called Suncorite. I understand it t is available under the trade name Bonderite from an outfit called EMC Coatings. I have heard it can be really nasty to work with but if you want the original (or close to it) this is it.

Frankly, once you do a re finish you've compromised the collectability anyhow so if it was me....I'd just get it dark charcoal gray parkerized. It's just as good or better a finish, looks about the same, and there are plenty of people who can do it. Chuck in Denver who still posts here sometimes I understand will do the job.
