With help of a member here, finally got hands on a Mossberg 44us.Been searching under the radar for one of these for a couple years. when I sold mine I got from the cmp in 2005, they were very common to find, last few years not so much.

as my kid is now almost 9, and is showing an interest in shooting, figure get something to teach him marksmanship with, that also fits in my wwii collection.

mfg approx. 1944 or early45 this one was in better shape than the one I originally had, and love the bluing on it as well.

will sight in one of these nights, and then to get my boy out to the range soon after with it, as im sure hes not ready for the garand, or even better my bar, or browning 1919 beltfed :D

That is from the 1/31/44 contract. Starting with 139,922 thru 152,448. So was probably made in first half of 1944. Total 12,526.
Next contract was 8/31/44, starting with 152,449. 13,199 total.
Another in 1/3/45 for 10,500, which was cancelled. The ones made in the above contracts cost 14.65 ea.! Bet you paid more, eh? hehehe!
You have a D&T receiver and it is an (a) (adjustable trigger pull added) model so they were looking to the future at civilian sales.
Very nice condition, used little by the military, if at all. And boy can these rifles shoot!! If you ever want to ad a scope a nice after market mount is sold which will hold a 1" tube and use the D&T holes. I have one on my civilian model, which is my 'go to' pest shooter!
