Hey fellow shooters,Where can a person find deals on spr30-06 ammo food for the garand.

The closest thing to a deal will be found on the CMP website. It's about the only source for surplus military ammo.

You'll need to reload. It's the only way we can afford to do much shooting any more.

I used to have an old Marine friend who would rather spend his money on beer than good ammo for his pristine IHC Garand.

He would go to a local gun dealer who kept a bin of FOREIGN Berdan Primed 30.06 ammo. It was cheap and matched my buddy well.

Naturally it wouldn't shoot consistently, the occasional flyer, and he would cuss when it would jam, but all he really cared for is hearing that "ker-chunk" of an 8-round clip being loaded and a bullet being chambered.

When it pitted the end of his Oprod, he didn't know how that could happen.

Next man...

We have had good reports from the Prvi ammo we sell for the M1. Mil-Spec, boxer primed, brass case & non-corrosive. http://dgrguns.com/0-main-page-accessories.htm

Yep, Prvi Partisan is good ammo. It would be my second choice following LC or HXP M2 Ball as sold by CMP.

UUURah said it right about bargin ammo, when it turns out not to be a bargin after your M1 is ruined.

The Greek HXP ammo from the CMP is pretty good stuff... $118 bucks for 200 rounds in an ammo can. The stuff fires pretty consistently in my Garands.

It's out there if you shop hard.

I've watched USGI non-corrosive surplus sell for less than .50 a round on enblocs and in .30 caliber cans at a local shop recently.
