Saw that Simpsons LTD sold one today. Had an interesting history behind it. But they called it an Ivanhoe gun. What exactly is that?

The complete list of "Ivanhoe" guns are detailed by serial number in Bruce Canfield's latest book on U.S. Combat Shotguns. You can check the number in the appendix, or post it here and someone will chime in...

I just noticed the gun was sold yesterday and now it's back up as unsold. Also in Simpson's ad they do say that the gun list in Canfields book so it must be legit. I notice in the photos that the receiver is pitted or finish is gone. At the price they are asking probably why the buyer backed off.

This my connection to these interesting shotguns. My Great Grandfather who passed when I was 2 months old was a retired Richmond City Policeman. The first photo is taken sometime in the early 1900's. He is on the left. Second photo is in 1938. The beat he walked for his entire career was Broad Street Station. That was the mainstay passenger station for the City of Richmond. His duty weapon was a Colt Police Positive in 32 S&W Long. My great aunt(his daughter) told me in the late 70's that he carried 12 bullets in is pocket. A set of handcuffs and a rattail sap in his back pocket. During WW2 he was finally issued a Sam Brown rig and had a hickory nightstick that had lead poured in the center. An active Mason and extremely religious man. Non drinker and basically was not down for any nonsense. While doubtful he would need a trench gun at the train station my thoughts wonder if he ever had a chance to shoot one.
