L.S.A. 1910 Sht. LE III .22lr Conversion

I won an auction for the rifle listed in the title and picked it up today. Not in bad shape for a 104 + year old SMLE. The butt socket is dated 1910.

The barrel knox is stamped DP so I took a chance. Everything functions and I can't find anything wrong with it that would cause the DP stamping except it's age and probably being rated obsolete.

The first range visit came out well as the target photo shows. At 25 yds. off the bench, 4 rounds touching in the 10 ring and one flyer in the X ring. The trigger is much better than my other No.2 Mk. 4 dated 1918. I'm not sure if the barrel is sleeved or solid. The rear sight is the windage adjustable type. Setting the rear sight for about 440 yds. worked out about right.

First congrat's on getting a nice rifle. The 22 Enfield's are just plain fun. I have owned many of them over the years. After my divorce I picked up two from Joe Salter for my Son and I. He was 7 so we put sand bags on the deck for a rest. After dinner we would put the empty pea or corn cans out to 25 meters from the wood line. Then we would try to see who could knock the can into the woods and know longer be seen. It was a lot of fun with memories I will cherish for life.
