I picked up some 30 06 ammo and most rounds were GI surplus from WW2. Once in a while some of them had their heads stamped PETERS 27 and the primer pocket looks like a gov't crimp up to & including the red ring around the primer. I assume they were made by Remington Peters and they are non corrosive. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

The 27 would be for 1927 and corrosive primed as Chris said.

PETERS 27 was one of the educational contracts for the new Cal .30 Ball M1 ammunition. Others were Western, WRA and Remington. The purpose was to familiarize the major manufacturers with quantity production of military ammunition in the event of a major conflict. They were allowed to use their own components and the primers would have been whatever Peters was using at the time. 50/50 chance that they are non-corrosive but they should be treated as corrosive just to be sure.

I'm not sure I'd want to shoot 87 year old ammunition regardless of the primer.
