It is not always easy to spot the gas trap variations in a group/pile of rifles

There are eight rifles in this photo, all are Springfield:

one is early gas trap with the fluted gas cylinder, two have the later third type gas cylinder. Only one gas port rifle has a trapdoor buttplate.

It is difficult to notice in either a recent photo or a WW2 photo - the different features on these rifles
