Found this picture on another site and was taken of two guerrillas in Central Luzon in early 1945. The one on the left appears to be holding a early M1 Gas Trap. The guerrillas, operating out of the area, went through Bataan, after the fighting an scooped up any abandoned weapons. The guerrilla on the right is carrying an M1917, the standard rifle of the Philippine National Army on Bataan.

Needless to say, I'd love to have either rifle!

Is it a Gas Trap? My eyes suck anymore, but it appears to be a regular Gas cylinder with no finish remaining.

Is the one on the right a woman?

Blew it up on my tablet and I can't tell for sure, but I'd take it either way.

Not a GT. Definitely a gas port style cylinder sans finish as is often seen with the LL rifles.

Well, as one of the guys said, I wouldn't turn it down, especially since it would have most likely come from Bataan! :D

Here is a Gas Trap in Panama 1942. No question as to this one.

I agree - the original picture I posted is a Gas Port. But would certainly like to have it! :(

It seems the tip off is the tip of the barrel . On shiny gas traps , the barrel ( trap ) is shiny to the end . On gas ports , the ring of the barrel is finished still , due to it being protected an more durable .

Yes, I think I'm convinced it's a Gas Port. Thanks, gentlemen, for your input. It would sure look good in my gun safe, that's for sure! :D

At 400% , I think I can see the barrel tip sticking out with the hand behind . Also can see the slot in the screw , I think .
