While going through the Barn Wood so far I have found two 1917 Enfield stocks without a hole for the Bayonet Lug Band. Early?? Both are Remington. I have a four digit and maybe this belongs on it ? Rick B

Only thing I can think of is the 'no hole' was never used on a rifle. Perhaps holes in band/lugs varied a tiny bit despite mass production and bands were fitted and the wood drilled then. Hell, even Win. M1's had that problem at the start of production in WW11.

These stocks were on rifles which has me thinking they were early Remington's . I cannot see them putting these out with out having a differnt type of band maybe. These came from WWII and were depot'd then tossed during rebuild if found to have issues. Strange to say the least. Rick B

Barn where I found these.

as has already been answered on other forums...un issued stock, hole was marked and drill after install.
