How is the quality of these pistols? Looking at getting something that I don't mind dinging up if it happens, but don't want to lose quality trying to find something not too expensive because of "looks" that don't account for much. Need function, not form.

Based on your criteria, I'd get a used model 10 cop gun.

For that price you cannot go wrong with a model 10 S&W. Too bad they are out of stock.

decent S&W mod 10, mod 15 or a model 19 or a mod 66 are all very good users................ when you start shelling out the money for a Colt Python, or a N framed S&W or one of the new 5 shot S&W L framed heavy hitter calibres......... a much higher level of care must be taken...............

I lust after several of the new 5 shot L frames pistols & a 5" S&W .460 custom piece from their shop too................ my lady just snickers..........
