I have some ammo, 7.62 X 51 ammo that I would like to know if it is Berdan primed, or what??
The boxes are marked SB (Sellor Bellot ??) and "NATO ESPANOL", as well as the Cal. 7.62 X 51. Also Cargados en 1983??
I pulled a bullet and dumped the powder and there is a large hole dead center under the primer, BUT there are also two very small (holes ?) right beside the large hole. MAybe just marks?? Cant see in there well enough.
Any help is surly appreciated???
Thanks so much,
Brad

The large "hole" is most likely the Berdan primer anvil. Two smaller holes are flash holes. You must own a flashlight to get a better look inside, or take it out into the sunlight.

Second Rays opinion. If in doubt wash out the case and get a good mag lite.

I would say that you have some 1983 SANTA BARBARA 7.62x51mm NATO Berdan Primed ammunition .

This ammo was and still is made in Spain .If memory serves that ammunition is somewhat low pressure and although it functions well in CETME's and the FR 8 bolt action carbines it causes problems in automatic weapons like the MG42 derivatives and MAG58's .
