I bought two of them in 2002 for $370 each. The last one I saw at a gunshow was about 2 years ago, and the guy wanted $600 for it.

That $800 is a suckers price these days. A few years ago there was a sudden demand and the cost shot up in excess of $800, but that was then. This is now. The current trend may someday get that high. How long it will take is anyones guess.
We sometimes pay tomorrows price too soon to get things we desire today. That is too many tomorrows away. Take a pass on that one and keep your eyes open. Within the year you will save at least $300 of your hard erned money with a little patience.

Back when the price shot up there was a heavy investment trend in guns. Nobody knew how many had been unwrapped. Only that many had. Once the price skyrocketed, "mummy" rifles came out of the woodwork. Hence the drop back to somewhat normal levels.

A thing to watch for...... When the rifles entered the USA in the early 90's the seal was broken to record serial numbers and add import markings. They have been exposed/compromised for slightly more than 20 years now. There were some instances of wide-eyed collectors unwrapping theirs to discover rust.

I'm glad I unwrapped mine back then. I've enjoyed a good shooter and haven't lost on my $200 since. I collect rifles which shoot, not greasy paper.
