Hi, I'm a forum newbie. Quick introduction: I'm a enthousiastic BP shooter and (small) collector and the proud owner of three 1884 Springfields:
- rifle # 408435
- carbine # 411670
- sporterized rifle # 469025
Unfortunately none of the cartouches are readable. Any clues for these numbers or anything interesting close to them? Thanks in advance, regards, Hans

Thanks for the quick reply and for trying!
Just for grins: where did the 408432 and 469022 go to?

The rifle is the latest acquisition, still need to make pictures of it, but this is the sporterized rifle (great shooter)

Arms were not assembled, packed, or issued, in strict sequence so a "close" number has no real bearing. Sadly, only a direct reference has historical significance.

Thanks, Tom and Dick, very much appreciate your efforts, and I'm sure I will revisit this forum more often. It contains a wealth of information.
Right now, I'm cleaning up the rifle a little bit, I'll post some pictures as soon as I have them!
Regards, Hans
