I saved this one from someone doing any further mods, but now im wondering what i should do with it. Barrel marked R. So i was wondering, should i put this back in military colors, or just scope it and use it as a ranch rifle, and purchase one that is already in correct WW1 configuration, which is what i really wanted in the first place?

It depends on what you want. It's your rifle and either will go toward your goals.

Does someone have an idea of cost of restoration? This is in good condition, but would need new wood, bands, front sight, etc. my guess is like most restorations i've done, its typically a thing of love not cost. Is that hold true for the enfield?

Yup! Definitely a labor of love which isn't as economical to do as it was 15 years ago.

A pre WW1 LSA MkIII is a tough one to find proper bits for. You could toss a bunch of so-called non original bits and pieces at it and you'll have a bitser. It'll look military but it wouldn't pass muster.
Use it as-is. Do you really need to scope a truck gun?
