Were any Type 99 rifles made with a 32" barrel?

The type 38 had a 31 1/2" barrel so the 99' long rifle could very well be 32" it used a 29 1/2" cleaning rod. Only about 38,000 were made at two arsenals. (8,000 only at one of those.) Never measured mine but I will if its important to know the exact length. McCollum's book does not give the length.

Thanks Dave. There is one for sale here that has been sporterized and the seller claims it is rare. I know nothing about Jap rifles.

Stocks would be impossible to find as would bands and some other fittings. Short rifle 99's were not the same in some of these parts. Sportered makes it worth nothing in my book, I would pass. I don't know if 38,000 makes them rare but certainly makes them scarse!

I have several Type 99 Long rifles and most are sportered. And yes, they are almost worthless. I have them just because there is a tiny chance that I may need them for parts or find stocks or get to a point where I can make my own stocks.

Here is a example of the Type 99 long, along with a type 99 and a Type 38 Carbine
