Back in August of 1992, the US Post Office was using on one day only, a cancellation stamp in New Haven, CT. It was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the US Carbine Caliber 30. A buddy of mine found out about it in advance and sent a couple of stamped self addressed envelopes to the New Haven PO. They sent them back to him with the cancellation stamp as shown. The other day he came across one of them and sent it to me. How times have changed. This was back when guns were recognized as peace keepers and the needed tools of the soldiers who fought for our freedoms.
