The 22 LR version that looks like a M-94 carbine, lever action (of course). I have a chance to buy one, never see them at gun shows here. The guy is asking 450.00. I have one I got new in 1972 but it is 22 Mag and I do not shoot it much. Allot cheaper then, 77.75 is what I paid!
Is 450 out of line? I have not seen it yet, he says its in VG condition.
What do you all think?

To me very good condition means mechanically perfect, no rust, 90%+ bluing, only minor scratches on the wood. If it's in that shape or better it's a great deal. These are fine, fine rifles. I often wish I'd bought one in .22 WMR when they were still in production. You don't see them in stores or at gun shows because the owners are not selling, and there's a very good reason for that!

As far as the price you paid for your 9422 in .22WMR in 1972....well it'd go for a bunch more now if you sold it which I would advise against. I bought a C series Colt Government Model .45 for $89.00 in 1967, they were still retailing for under $100.00 in 1972. I think that puts the price you bought your rifle for in perspective.

Two years ago, $450 was the upper limit on the 9422 in 22LR. Now, it is the exception to find one at a show for less than $500. The 22 Mag version generally brings more, but the bottom line is condition. You will certainly make money at that price, unless our Uncle confiscates it in the future. The 9422 is high quality and a pleasure to shoot. Regards, Clark

Thanks. My 9422Mag is not for sale and its as new, shot very little, as I said. If I buy this LR one it will not be to resell, either. Just hope it is not the later one with checkered stock, ughhh!

For comparison, last year I bought a used Marlin 39A, about 10 years old and never shot or shot very little. Like new condition and I paid $400. I would jump on that Winchester in a heartbeat.

The guy backed out, I think. Told me he can't find it!
