Very nice! Thanks for sharing. Is that a VFW emblem on the grips?

Best Regards from Virginia,

What is the serial number range of the two 1911 pistols? Could you show us some more pictures of close up details? They look real nice from what I can see but more pictures would be better. Are they both all original? What barrels do they have?

Are these two pistols new to your collection or did you recently pick them up?

Are you sure the bottom pistol is a 1913? It looks like it has a circled rampant colt behind the cocking serration. If so, the slide may be mismatched or it may be a 1912.

Scott, Meadows covered this anomaly in his book. Page 137, U.S. Military Automatic Pistols 1984-1920 by Edward Scott Meadows gives the following information :

" Rampant Colt Markings
The circle around the rampant colt on the left rear of the slide was discontinued in January of 1912 at approximately serial number 20300.
A small group of Navy pistols in the serial range of 42500-44000 have been observed with the circled rampant Colt. These pistols made several months after the change in the regular production markings probably utilized extra slides produced during the manufacture of the pistols made for the Navy in 1912 as overruns or in anticipation of future Navy orders."

My bet is it's a 1913 with a slide left over from the initial Navy order from 1912. I have seen one before..gordon bethune

"The circle around the rampant colt on the left rear of the slide was discontinued in January of 1912 at approximately serial number 20300."

Does that make any sense when serial number 20300 was shipped January 23, 2013?

Knowing the serial number range would end the guessing games. Right now the slides don't match.
