This pistol was sold to a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. It was originally shipped in January 1917 to San Antonio Arsenal and most likely sold through the N.R.A. from there prior to being issued. Both Colt and Springfield Armory pistols were sold to N.R.A. Life Members, but the majority of known pistols are SA production.

This pistol was used along the way. Some were even carried overseas by those serving. I don't know the history of this pistol, just that it is used. However, those days are over now. It's not a beautiful pistol, but is rare enough to display. I only wish I'd acquired it years before, while in better condition. Still...I'm happy to have it.

Thanks for sharing, Scott. You find the most beautiful and interesting 1911's. While all I can do is drool over most of them, it's always nice to see them.

Nice pick up Scott. I like it just as it is. Nothing better than "all original"
COLT!
