WW1 Colt 45acp magazines

I came across a few of those 2-tone 45acp magazines I believe are from WW1. What do I need to know to find out if they are the genuine item? What would be stamping/marks on them? Would 'Colt' be on them?

Is there a "lanyard loop" on the bottom? --Jim

I only have two, came with a wwI pistol belt, wwI mag. pouch and a bandage pouch. Loaded with wwII steel case ammo. No markings of any kind, no lanyard rings. Old pitting and fairly well worn. I would be very suspicious if they were too good of condition as repros are/were made, most with the rings. I do not think any were marked. During wwII many contracters were used and they were marked. May be wrong on all this but I will be corrected, I'm sure.

1915 was the last year the Model 1911 was shipped with the lanyard loop magazine. The Colt non L-L magazine was two tone and unmarked. WWI contract magazines were two tone and were marked on the top of the lip with an A, B, L, or R depending on manufacturer. A very few were marked R on the base, but these are rare.

Yes, they have lanyard rings.
